I had the good fortune to start my career as a software consultant for a small group with a big mission at IBM. In the late 1990s, I helped build some of the earliest and highest profile eBusiness applications of the day: sites like the first Macys.com eCommerce platform, Hertz Rental Car’s first online reservations systems, early online banking solutions for Nations Bank, real-time scoring solutions for the Masters and the U.S. Open, and high scale test beds for the Olympics. These early solutions taught me the value of listening intently and making sure technology solutions were appropriately matched to both the short- and long-term needs of our clients.
After pivoting to the world of software products I founded several successful startups but returned to consulting in 2017 with a hard-won understanding that my “why” is to help other people figure out their “how.”
As a technology leader, I went “cloud native” with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2010. I have taken both Internet-scale startups and entrenched enterprise applications through the cloud migration and scale out life cycle. I wanted to help others achieve that same level of productive, flexibility, and ROI.
